A method and an apparatus for recording/reproducing a recording medium are provided to effectively record data on a recording medium by searching valid temporary management information using partitioned information. An apparatus for recording/reproducing a recording medium comprises a pickup part(11) reading a signal from a recording medium or recording a signal on the recording medium, and a controller(12). The controller controls the pickup part, records data and temporary management information thereof on the recording medium, partitions the data and the temporary management information, and records the partitioned information of the partitioned area on a second management area. The controller also reads the latest one out of the temporary management information, or searches the valid temporary management information by using the partitioned information when the latest temporary management information is not readable.
