A method and an apparatus for processing an audio signal are provided to group object signals having close correlation into a group, thereby improving the processing efficiency of the audio signal. A method for processing an audio signal comprises the following steps of: receiving the audio signal including object information; acquiring correlation information of indicating whether a group between objects is generated from the received audio signal; and acquiring one meta information common to objects grouped on the basis of the correlation information.
