PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently reducing the concentration of carbon monoxide in a hydrogen-containing gas obtained by a reforming reaction of methanol to utilize the gas as a hydrogen source for a fuel cell, and further to provide a catalyst. SOLUTION: Oxygen in an amount of 0.5-2 times as much as that of the carbon monoxide in the hydrogen-containing gas is brought into contact with the carbon monoxide at 40-200 deg.C in the presence of a catalyst containing both of manganese and platinum.
