PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting element which requires no wavelength conversion member such as a fluorescent substance and has an emission wavelength band (spectrum width) with a wide visible range and high color rendering property and a high emission intensity.SOLUTION: A semiconductor light emitting element includes: a first semiconductor layer 12 having a first conductivity type; a first light-emitting function layer 13 which is formed on the first semiconductor layer and includes a luminescent layer; and a second semiconductor layer 14 which is formed on the light-emitting function layer and has a conductivity type opposite to that of the first semiconductor layer. The luminescent layer includes: a base layer BL1 which has a composition subjected to stress strain from the first semiconductor layer and has a plurality of base segments BS formed in a random mesh shape; a quantum well structure layer WA composed of at least one quantum well layer formed by embedding the base layer, and at least one barrier layer. The base layer has a plurality of sub-base layers BL2 composed of AlGaN having Al compositions different from each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
