The present invention relates to a composition comprising eucalyptol as an active ingredient, for preventing and treating renal fibrosis due to diabetes. The composition of the present invention is capable of preventing and treating renal fibrosis in an excellent manner, by reducing CTGF expression of human renal proximal tubule cells (RPTEC), reducing the generation of type 4 (IV) collagen, increasing the expression of MT1-MMP, and reducing the TIMP-2 activities.
