PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting element which improves light extraction efficiency by an uneven pattern and which causes less defect in an electrode formation process by forming on a light emission surface in a region adjacent to an electrode pad, an asperity with a height lower than that of an asperity in a region other than the electrode pad.SOLUTION: A semiconductor light emitting element 10 has a luminescent layer 14, a light emission surface 21 for emitting light radiated from the luminescent layer 14, a translucent inorganic compound layer 16 formed to cover the light emission surface 21, and an electrode pad 19 composed of a metal thin film for injecting current to the luminescent layer 14. The translucent inorganic compound layer 16 has a pattern structure composed of a plurality of salients or recesses. When assuming that a distance between a top and a bottom of an asperity part 17 in the region adjacent to the electrode pad 19 is defined as b and a distance between a top and a bottom of an asperity part 18 in a region other than the asperity part 17 is defined as b, a and b satisfy b<a and 50 nm≤b≤100 nm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
