PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device for arranging first car and second car in a traveling path in a hoistway and elevating/lowering each of the cars by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: Both of a first car 24 elevating/lowering in a first traveling path 22 of the hoistway 1 and a second car 25 elevating/lowering on an upper side of the first car 24 are provided. Corresponding to each of both the cars 24 and 25, a first driving machine 26 and a second driving machine 28 are provided. A counter weight 30 elevating/lowering in a second traveling path 23 is provided. One end of a main rope 32 is connected with the first car 24, is wound on the first driving machine 26, is wound on a suspended wheel 31 of the counter weight 30 and is wound on the second driving machine 28, and the other end is connected with the second car 25. As a result, because the one first traveling path 22 and the one counter weight 30 are required for both of the cars 24 and 25, occupancy area is reduced and manufacturing and installing troubles can be saved.
