<p>A traverse, for an aluminium prodn. cell, esp. a cell charged with alumina by a point-feeder unit, consists of one or more gas-tight, hollow beams made of welded metal plates and aligned in the cell length direction. The bottom of the beam has one or more openings for off-gas suction pipes and the top of the beam has a suction pipe leading to a main off-gas pipe. The beam also has support feet which isolate the beam from the cell supports. The traverse serves as a support for the mobile point-feeder unit, as well as for other cell equipment such as alumina hoppers, control and operating lines, alumina, and flux feed lines, anode bar consoles, cell side screens, off-gas exhaust pipes, etc.</p> |
