<p>The double glazing system consists of an existing fixed pane (2) onto which a second pane (3) can be fitted. The second pane has a composite plastics U-section (1c) held in place by sealant mass (1g). An extended part of the U-section comprises a cavity (1b) filled with a humidity-absorbing agent and a groove carrying a flexible lip section (1a). At the start of the erection the second pane (3) provided with the complete U-section border is slightly pressed against the existing pane and via valve (1f) air is exhausted from gap (6) between the two panes. After applying sealant mass (5) around the outer edges of the U-section the vacuum in gap (6) is cancelled and the gap may be filled with dry air or an inert gas, with subsequent closure of the valve.</p> |
