PURPOSE:To feed an ink sheet and a recording paper without requiring an especially high degree of mechanical accuracy and while restraining the ink sheet from being wrinkled or slackening, by inserting the ink sheet and the recording paper one upon the other between a thermal head and a platen, and feeing the ink sheet and the paper in the same direction while setting the feeding velocity of the ink sheet to be higher than that of the paper. CONSTITUTION:A support reel 50 is rotated while being given a frictional force by a friction ring 316. Therefore, an appropriate back tension is applied accurately and securely to a recording paper 13 drawn out from a recording paper roll 12, so that the paper 13 is constantly drawn out without slackening. The feeding velocity of an ink sheet 2 is set to be higher than that of the paper 13 by about 0-5%, and accordingly, the ink sheet 2 is prevented from being dragged by the paper 13 being fed.
