PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a starting raw material for silicone rubber, etc., in high yield, by carrying out disproportionation reaction of an aryldihalosilane under condition of reduced pressure. CONSTITUTION:An aryldihalosilane, e.g. phenyldichlorosilane, etc., is reacted in the presence of normally 0.01-5wt% catalyst, e.g. aluminum trichloride, etc., normally at >=50 deg.C under reduced pressure, preferably under condition of 50-200 deg.C and 0.1-400Torr while stirring to afford the aimed compound.
