PURPOSE:To reduce the Fe<3+> in a plating soln. to Fe<2+>, by charging the plating soln. in the Fe-based electroplating using an insoluble anode into a rotary vessel packed with the particles of Fe or a metal baser than Fe, and tilting and rotating the vessel. CONSTITUTION:The Fe<2+> ion in the electroplating soln. using an insoluble anode is oxidized to an Fe<3+> ion by the O2 in the air or the O2 generated from the anode during plating, and the performance as the plating soln. is deteriorated. The Fe-based plating soln. 6 is charged in the reaction vessel 1 packed with the particles 5 of Fe or a metal such as Zn baser than Fe, the vessel is erected by the action of a bearing 4, and the soln. is agitated by the rotation of a supporting shaft 2. The Fe<3+> ion is reduced to a Fe<2+> ion by the metallic particles 5, and the plating performance is restored. The Fe<3+> ion concn. and pH value in the plating soln. 6 is monitored during the reduction by an oxidation-reduction potential and pH monitoring device 7, hydrochloric acid, etc., are added by a pump 8 when the pH value of the plating soln. 6 increases by the generation of H2, and the operation is stopped when the Fe<3+> ion concn. becomes about 1/50 times the Fe<2+> ion conc.
