PURPOSE:To improve a failsafe function by providing plural vehicle speed sensor and judging the abnormality of said vehicle speed sensors based on the detected signals of these sensors. CONSTITUTION:By providing two vehicle speed sensors (a), the outputs of these vehicle speed sensors (a) are inputted into an abnormality judging means (b) and a speed change stage determining means (c). And, when an abnormality signal is outputted, the vehicle speed sensor (a) other than the vehicle speed sensor (a) which is indicated by this abnormality signal is determined to be the defined vehicle speed sensor, and the gear ratio of a transmission is switched over based on the output of this vehicle speed sensor (a). Thereby, the gear ratio of the transmission can be switched over always by the detected signal of a normal vehicle speed sensor (a), improving a fail safe function.
