The leaf stripper for vine leafs has a stripping head (1) with a rotary drum (2) and a suction source (4) to generate an air flow across the cylindrical open sidewall (3) of the drum. A guide (5,9) channels the air flow across a variable section of the sidewall. A cutter (12) is installed adjacent to the sidewall of the drum and oriented parallel to the rotary axis of the drum. The stripper head can have a guide formed by an endless web at least partially surrounding the drum.
