Use of a topical application of ellagic acid, its salts, metal complexes and mono- or poly-ether or mono- or poly-acyl derivatives or its carbonates or carbamates with hydroxyl groups as an anti-pollution cosmetic is claimed. An Independent claim is also included for a cosmetic treatment process for protecting against the effects of pollution by applying the acid, its salts or specified derivatives as above.
