PURPOSE: To obtain a peptide or a polypeptide comprising lysine or serine, having a specific amino acid sequence and no problem of cytotoxicity and precipitate formation in mixing with nucleotide, useful as a carrier for medicines, etc. CONSTITUTION: This new peptide or polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of formula I to formula III, etc., comprises lysine or serine, has no problem of cytotoxicity and precipitate formation in mixing with nucleotide, is useful as a carrier for medicines of a physiologically active (oligo) nucleotide such as antisense DNA or RNA and has a regular sequence. The peptide or polypeptide is obtained by packing a solid-phase resin into a peptide synthesizing column, successively bonding protected amino acids to the solid-phase resin to synthesize a peptide chain, eliminating the peptide from the solid-phase resin, removing the whole protecting group and purifying the peptide by high speed liquid chromatography.
