PURPOSE: To prevent burning on a rolling roll and to obtain a steel sheet excellent in surface properties by using a water base lubricant containing iron hydroxide at the time of hot rolling and controlling the draft of finish rolling. CONSTITUTION: A fluid containing iron hydroxide is applied to or sprayed on the surface of work rolls of a hot-rolling stand where the temp. of stainless steel of a material to be rolled is within the range of 900-1100 deg.C. The fluid is taken as a water base medium, preferably, a medium which is mixed with a water-soluble high molecular thickener and in which iron hydroxide powder having the average particle diameter less than 0.1-0.5μm is mixed by 5-30wt.%. The hot rolling consists of rough rolling and finish rolling and the cumlative draft in the finish rolling is distributed to reduction of <=90%. Further, it is preferable to distribute the draft of each pass in finish rolling to reduction of <=30%. By adopting this rolling lubricant and rolling method, when it is the stainless steel of Cr equivalent of <=25%, burning is nearly completely prevented. |
