PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the friction resistance of the surface of a buildup welded layer by lessening the ruggedness on this surface. SOLUTION: The surface of an ordinary steel 12a is subjected to molten build-up 12b by a MIG welding machine by using a solid wire made of a mild steel. The grains formed by sintering tungsten carbide (WC) grains with Co as a bond metal are added into the molten pool thereof to impart the wear resistance thereto. At this time, the WC particles of 1.0±0.2mm grain size are first added to the molten pool and build-up welding 12b of two layers is executed. The build-up welding 12b" of one layer is executed thereon while the WC particles of 0.3±0.2mm are added thereto. Further, the build-up welding 12c is executed thereon without addition of any particles to cover the build-ups 12b, 12b" added with the WC and, thereafter, the surface is finished smooth by a grinder. Since this liner 12 has the smooth surface, the liner has no large friction resistance even in the initial time of mounting and does hinder the driving of a machine lined with this liner.
