PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material formed of a substrate such as a synthetic paper or a plastic film in which superior color development properties are provided and printing ink is not released even when used under the extremely low temperature environment. SOLUTION: In a thermal recording material in which a heat-sensitive coloring development layer utilizing the coloring reaction between a leuco dye and a developer is formed on a substrate and a protective layer is formed on the heat-sensitive color development layer, the substrate is a synthetic paper or a plastic film, and the surface glossiness (JIS-8142) is 7[GS(75 deg.)]% or less, and smoothness (J. TAPPI No. 5B) is 70 seconds or more. |
