PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reduction of reaction temperature and pressure in production of oxide superconductor by using a halide of an element constituting an oxide superconductor as a part or all of a raw material of the element and synthesizing the oxide superconductor. SOLUTION: This oxide superconductor such as YBaCuO-based oxide superconductor is prepared by mixing oxide raw materials at a prescribed molar ratio, subjecting the oxide raw materials to heat treatment at a temperature of 900-1,000 deg.C for about 24-100 hr in oxygen atmosphere, pulverizing and mixing the mixture, molding the mixture under pressure to afford pellets and sintering the pellets at high temperature under high pressure. For example, when a halogen copper such as CuI is used as a copper raw material, CuI is decomposed to Cu single substance having high chemical activity and I and is actively reacted with other constituent elements constituting oxide superconductor and treated under ordinary sintering conditions comprising 100 Pa (1 atom) to 1 M Pa pressure and 800-900 deg.C temperature to provide the objective superconductor. The halide which can be used includes a halogen-barium compound such as BaI2 , a halogen-yttrium compound such as YI3 and other halide includes bromide such as CuBr. |
