PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing dibutyl ether useful as an oxygen- containing fuel base material, suitable for an industrial performance and enabling the efficient production of the dibutyl ether by a simple method from 1-butene and n-butyl alcohol as raw materials. SOLUTION: This method for producing dibutyl ether comprises reacting 1-butene with n-butyl alcohol in the presence of an acidic ion exchange resin having an acid group concentration of 1.5-5.0 meq./g as a catalyst. Therein, the acidic ion exchange resin is preferably the resin having an acid group concentration of 3.0-5.0 meq./g, preferably 4.0-5.0 meq./g, a specific surface area of 20-100 m<2> /g, preferably 30-50 m<2> /g, an average pore diameter of 50-500 Å, preferably 100-450 Å, in a water-saturated state and reduced into a water content of <=1.5 vol.%, preferably 1.3 vol.%. |
