PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording device having a new pigment system optical recording layer for a DVD(digital versatile disc)-R device. SOLUTION: The optical recording device has a transparent substrate and a recording layer and a light reflective layer, which are formed on the surface of the substrate. The recording layer (a) contains (i) a metal-containing carbamoyl azo pigment with azo group, with which substituted 3-hydroxypyridine nucleus is coupled with phenyl nucleus having carbamoyl substituent ortho to azo group and (ii) a cyanine pigment and (b) has a refractive index consisting of a real part (n) of larger than 1.8 and an imaginary part (k) of smaller than 0.2 in a selected wavelength range of 400 nm-660 nm in its unwritten part. |
