PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device allowing improvement of conversion efficiency. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp lighting device has a first DC/DC converter 41 for boosting or dropping an output voltage of a rectification circuit 2 and converting it into a DC voltage to output the DC voltage, a second DC/DC converter 50 for converting the output voltage of the rectification circuit 2 into 400 V higher than the output voltage of the first DC/DC converter 41 and outputting it to a high-pressure discharge lamp 25 through an inverter 44 at the time of starting of a high-pressure discharge lamp 25, and for converting a DC voltage into 800 V, and a high-voltage pulse generation circuit for generating a high-voltage pulse and applying the pulse to the high-pressure discharge lamp 25 at the input of the voltage of 800 V. |
