PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely attach and detach a core pipe by providing a core pipe pushing device formed of a moving mechanism fixed to an arm and moved in the axial direction of a web roll, a pressing plate fixed to the tip of the moving mechanism, and a guide mechanism for regulating the moving direction of the pressing plate in the axial direction of the web roll. SOLUTION: When a core pipe 3 is removed, the rod of a cylinder 31 is pushed out from the state where it is contracted in no contact with a chuck. At this time, a blade 34 touches the rear end surface 14 of a guide 12 to push the core pipe 3 in the axial direction. Since a claw 26 is radially minimized along a taper part 2 7 according to this movement, the claw 26 and the inner surface of the core pipe 3 which are strongly pressed to each other are separated to eliminate the constraining force to the core pipe 3, and the core pipe 3 is thus separated from the chuck. This operation is performed from both sides of the core pipe 3, whereby the core pipe 3 is perfectly released from the chuck and fallen. Since the core pipe 3 is not directly pressed, but the end surface of the core pipe 3 is pressed along the axis in a wide circumferential range, the core pipe 3 is never damaged.
