PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact confocal optical system by which even a subject having low reflectance is observed at high S/N, especially, a direct viewing type compact confocal optical system which can be inserted into the channel of an endoscope. SOLUTION: This confocal optical system is provided with a confocal pin hole for forming a point light source, an optical scanning optical system 2 performing scanning with a light beam from the point light source and a condensing optical system 4 condensing the light beam from the optical system 2 on a subject surface 12. The optical system 2 has a reflection surface 3 including at least one scanning mirror and is provided with a low reflection area on the reflection surface 3. |
