PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine capable of selecting and transmitting only one of the information of routine characters included in document information or the information of a character added by handwriting. SOLUTION: A user selects whether to transmit only form characters included in document information or to transmit only handwritten characters by using the selecting means of an operation part 20. Then, CPU 22 decides whether to transmits only the form characters included in document information or to transmit only the handwritten characters based on a selecting situation by the selecting means in selecting a facsimile transmission mode. Furthermore, when a black ratio in reading the selected character information is low, the user's selection can be wrong the effect is reported to the user.
