Safety lighting for bicycles is provided by a set of clip on magnets (6), with four such magnet sets (6) being clipped onto the bicycle spokes (10) near the rim (16) of the rear bicycle wheel, and a set of pick up coils (14) located on the bicycle forks (13) of the relevant wheel. In its simplest form a set of LED's (11, 12) will flash when the bicycle wheel is rotated. In another arrangement circuits are disclosed to allow the pick up coil to charge a single cell 1.5 volt nicad battery. The output of which can be enhanced to 9 volts to power the LED's (11, 12). This enables the rear lights (12) to flash when the bicycle is stationary at traffic lights, and enables a more constant output for the headlight (11) whilst the bicycle is in use.
