PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning device of an underwater moving body which does not require installation of three or more submarine transponders or enlargement of the device, and which has high positioning precision. SOLUTION: This positioning device is provided with an observation boat 5 and sound transmitter/receivers loaded on the observation boat, a first water surface towed body 6 and a second water surface towed body 7 towed by the observation boat, a deep-sea towed apparatus 1 towed by the observation boat, an echo-sounder transducer loaded on the first water surface towed body, connected to the sound transmitter/receivers 8 on the observation boat by a communication cable, and positioned by a ratio location system, two echo-sounder receivers loaded on the second towed body, connected to the sound transmitter/ receivers 9, 10 by the communication cable and positioned by the radio location systems 11, 12, and a sound pulse transmitter loaded on the deep-sea towed apparatus. The position of the deep-sea towed apparatus is calculated, based on position data of the echo-sounder transducer and each echo-sounder receiver itself and distance data, from the echo-sounder transducer and the echo-sounder receivers to the sound pulse transmitter.
