PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink tank with an excellent ink storage efficiency which can obtain external dimensions and ink storage volume equal to those of an ink tank without a loaded memory element, even in a highly functional ink tank with a loaded memory element. SOLUTION: The ink tank 101 has a tank case 102 which stores ink absorbers 103a, 103b and 103c. A memory element 108 is attached onto the external surface of the tank case 102. An attachment part 120 with concavities which fits at least a part of the memory element 108 is formed on the external surface where the memory element 108 is attached. A projection 130 which projects toward the ink absorber 103c stored in the tank case 102 is formed on the internal surface of the tank case 102 on the opposite of the attachment part 120.
