PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for treating organic waste, in which organic waste such as seafood residues discarded at a food processing step, excreta of domestic animals such as fowl droppings, hog dung and cowpat, agricultural waste such as vegetable waste, and further animal and plant food residues such as garbage can be decomposed/treated efficiently in a short time, resin materials can be treated and waste having a heavy metal component can be treated safely and which is effective when waste is recycled. SOLUTION: The system for treating organic waste comprises a base material for immobilizing a microbial cell and at least one microbial cell selected from fourteen genera of microbial cells of streptomyces, sulfolobus, saccharopolyspola, streptomyces, nocordia, pseudomonas, cytophaga, spotocytophaga, bacillus, cellulomonas, streptomyces, clostridum, aspergillus, penicillium and rhizopus.
