The device has an applicator housing (1) with an application opening (4) for discharging a medium. A dosing pump (2) feeds the medium from a medium storage to an applicator. A display unit displays data that is generated by a data processing processor. A power source provides the processor with power. An electronic metering module (3) includes a module housing, whose external dimensions are adapted to internal dimensions of a retaining space (6) of the applicator housing, where the module housing is detachably fastened to the retaining space.
