PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To represent a solid object in a virtual space realistically. SOLUTION: An image display device holds a spherical coordinate map image and a cube map image as images to be pasted on the surface of a virtual earth 202 in the virtual space. When an observation distance which is the distance from an observing point to a cubic object is greater than a boundary value, the cube map image is mapped to the virtual earth 202.
