PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receive signal reproducing method which can correctly reproduce compressed data sent at a variable bit rate even when the transmission and reception side are shifted in reference frequency. SOLUTION: Transmitted compressed data are received and sequentially stored in an FIFO 1. A DSP decoder 4 reads the compressed data out of the FIFO 1 and decodes them. A reproduction time detector 2 detects a reproducible time for the compressed data stored in the FIFO 1. According to variation in the value, a sampling frequency of the transmission side is estimated and the DSP decoder 4 decodes the data by a clock CK1 generated by a clock generator 3 and outputs the result.
