PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling power amplifier in orthogonal frequency division multiple access system are provided to reduce the power consumption of the terminal by controlling the power source on/off according to the allocation of transmission data. CONSTITUTION: A sub channel allocation unit(410) maps the modulation symbol of the encoder(400) in the sub channels of the terminal. An IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) unit(420) performs IFFT about the signal of the sub channel allocation. A transmission filter(430) filters the signal of IFFT. A DAC(Digital to Analog Converter)(440) converts the signal of the transmission filter into the analog signal. An RF(Radio Frequency) processor(450) processes the baseband signal of DAC as the high frequency signal. An RF controller(460) controls the power source on/off of the power amplifier of the radio frequency processor. |
