A tap e recording drive system is designed to allow either direct use with tape reels or to allow the insertion of a single spool cassette. In either instance the drive system ensures a constant and correct tape tension. For operation with spools the tape is fed over a series of guide rollers past the reading and erase heads. Tensioning levers control the process. The reels may be removed and a tape cassette inserted to produce automatic coupling with the drive system.
