<p>The combination lock is for a strong-room door, having on the outer face one or more knobs for the selection of the opening combination while there are an equal number of knobs on the inside. A locking mechanism incorporates a lever acting as a bolt. Each assembly formed by an inner and outer knob has two cylindrical coaxial bearings, one fixed to an inner and one to an outer knob, and each with a radial notch which must be brought into alignment with an arm corresponding to the lever to open the lock. The bearings are locked so as to turn together by connectors such that selection of the corresponding part of the combination by turning the knob in a particular direction brings one notch at least into line with the lever arm.</p> |
