A tool of this kind comprises a device which can be rotationally driven by means of motor power and has circumferential cutting elements projecting radially outwards, the cutting elements producing an essentially closed, circumferential stock removal face as the tool rotates. In order to increase the life of the tool and to increase production, the cutting elements comprise a multiplicity of pointed or spike-like projections which are arranged on a roller-shaped carrier body in rows which are spaced from one another, extend in the circumferential direction of the carrier body and are inclined with respect to the axis of rotation of the tool.
