A handlebar-mounted cable control (40) for a bicycle brake or the like, including a cable fitting (130) fixed within the handlebar (34) and having a throughbore (136) and an angled surface (134) facing an open end of the handlebar, a tubular handle member (142) being inserted over and coaxially rotatable about the end of the handlebar (34), the handle member (142) having an insert (144) with a throughbore (158) and an angled surface (148) being generally complementary with the angled surface (134) of the cable fitting (130). The brake cable (56) is inserted in the throughbore (136, 158) and a cable end (54) is fixed to the insert (144) so that as the handle member (142) is rotated, the brake cable (56) is pulled, activating the brake. |
