<p>Heating the furnace chamber of an industrial furnace to which a gaseous fuel and an oxygen carrier gas are introduced comprises dividing the gaseous fuel into two partial streams, one being at a higher pressure than the other; feeding the oxygen carrier gas to the fuel partial stream under the lower pressure to form a first flame; and feeding the fuel partial stream having the higher pressure to the furnace chamber to form a second flame ignited by the first flame and extending further into the chamber than the first flame. An Independent claim is also included for a burner for heating the furnace chamber comprising a burner head (2) arranged in a housing (1), an air line (3) formed upstream of the head, a gas line (4) leading to the head and having gas nozzles (S), a throttle site (6) provided in the gas line upstream of the gas nozzles, and a gas lance (7) connected to the gas line upstream of the throttle site and extending through the head up to the height of the gas nozzles.</p> |
