Running surfaces have at least one break, covered by the contact line of the rotor shaft, giving a shrouded recess. Interruption in the running surfaces is in the form of grooves running continuously round the centre of the running surfaces or in the form of spiral grooves running round the circumference. The grooves are parallel to each other and they can be angled against the direction of disc rotation. In another form, the breaks can be created by the use of ribs on the running surfaces, or the breaks can bein the form of a series of drillings. As a further variation, the body of the disc can act as a connecting web to support two projections, forming the recess between them.
