PURPOSE:To obtain a cutting fluid which is excellent in resistance to microbial deterioration and reduced in skin irritation by compounding an ammonium borate compound prepared in a specific manner with a base oil. CONSTITUTION:The objective fluid is obtained by compounding a base oil with an ammonium borate compound which is produced by a reaction at 100 deg.C or above of 0.1-4mol of an N-substituted amino alcohol of the formula (in which R1 is hydrogen, 1-24C alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, alkylaryl, aralkyl or aryl; R2 is 1-24C alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, alkylaryl, aralkyl or aryl; and R3 is 2-6C alkyl), 1-5mol of an alkanolamine, 2mol or less of a 6-24C fatty acid and 0.5-4mol of a borate substance. |
