Gp. II metal overbased sulphurised alkylphenate compsn. (A) deriv. from alkylphenols (B) enriched in alkylphenols of formula (I) is new, (where -CRR'R" is substantially straight chain; R" = H, methyl or ethyl; R, r' = alkyl of at least 3C atoms; Sum of C atoms in R, R' and R" = 11-21; difference between R and R' is not more than 3C atoms; n = 1-2). Also claimed is a lubricating oil compsn. (D) comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.5-40 wt.% of (A). |
