PURPOSE: To transform an existent expert system to a system having one neural network at least so as to prepare production rules for the existent expert system with a little time and fund. CONSTITUTION: Technique for transforming an existent expert system to a system introducing one or more neural network is provided with a stage for separating the knowledge base and inference engine of the existent expert system, stage for discriminating external and internal inputs and outputs, stage for discriminating subsystems from the inputs and outputs, stage for using the neural networks for the respective subsystems, stage for training the respective neural networks for learning the production rules of related subsystems, and stage for calculating an exact or interpolated output from a pair of applied inputs.
