LUBRICATING SUBSTANCE AND MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To obtain a lubricating substance which is gentle to the environment and can cause two solid bodies in contact with each other to slide on each other with low friction and abrasion regardless of the sliding speed and load and to obtain a magnetic recording medium improved in durability and travelling properties by using the lubricating susbtance as a lubricant. CONSTITUTION: This lubricating substance is a triblock body of a fluorinated block-nonfluorinated block-fluorinated block structure, the nonfluorinated block being branched or cyclic. A magnetic recording medium is prepd. by forming a magnetic layer on at least one side of a nonmagnetic substrate and causing the lubricating substance to exist as a lubricant inside or on the surface of the magnetic layer.
