PURPOSE: To obtain a new microorganism belonging to the genus Vibrio and having strong hydrogen peroxide decomposing activity and provide a drainage- treating method for decomposing hydrogen peroxide in drainage from fish processing factories, etc. CONSTITUTION: This is a new microorganism belonging to the genus Vibrio and named as Vibrio S-1-6 and has strong hydrogen peroxide-decomposing activity under aerobic conditions and is capable of living for a long period even in drainage containing various organic substances derived from fish bodies or fish eggs. Consequently, hydrogen peroxide in drainage can be decomposed and removed by directly adding the Vibrio S-1-6 bacterial strain to hydrogen peroxide-containing drainage from fish processing factories, etc., or bringing the bacterial strain into contact with the drainage through a dialyzing membrane. |
