PURPOSE: To provide an image forming method by which a high-quality sharp image can be obtd. with an excellent transfer efficiency of a toner image. CONSTITUTION: This image forming method includes at least a developing process to develop an electrostatic latent image with a developer to form a toner image on a electrostatic latent image holding body 1, a primary transfer process to transfer the toner image to an intermediate transfer body 5 to which voltage is applied, and a secondary transfer process to transfer the toner image on the intermediate transfer body to a transfer material by pressing a transfer means 7 with voltage applied to a transfer material 6. The developer used contains a toner, and the toner is a black toner containing at least an inorg. fine powder and black toner particles prepared by dispersing a coloring agent in a binder resin. The shape coefft. of the black toner SF-1 and SF-2 satisfy the relation of 110<(SF-1)<=180, 110<(SF-2)<=140, and B/A<=1.0, wherein A=(SF-1)-100 and B=(SF-2)-100.
