When one remote-station is at a malfunction state, another remote-station automatically performs the same function, so that a process is not stopped and a successive operation is performed. A double back-up method usig a redundant station in a remote-system sets two remote-stations having the same station number, sets one of the two remote-stations as a primary station, sets the other one as a secondary station, and performs a retry operation of N+ Mtimes when there is no answer of the primary station in a host's request. The secondary station answers to the host's request when there is N-times retries.
