PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a substance, which comprises creating a microorganism having improved energy efficiency and then producing the target substance with the microorganism. SOLUTION: This method for producing the substance with the microorganism, comprising culturing the microorganism in a culture medium to produce and accumulate the target substance in the culture medium, and then collecting the target substance, characterized in that the microorganism is a variant or gene recombinant which is created from the parent strain of a microorganism holding a respiratory chain route having good energy efficiency and a respiratory chain route having bad energy efficiency as the respiratory route and has one or two of the following properties (A) and (B). (A) The respiratory chain route having the good energy efficiency has been reinforced. (B) The respiratory chain route having the bad energy efficiency has been lost. |
