PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the throughput of an exchange node from being reduced by suppressing packets and cells transferred uselessly to be a prescribed ratio or below so as to reduce invalid processing in a network. SOLUTION: When a cell reaches a classification device 2, the device 2 discriminates whether or not the cell is a head cell of a packet and detects the number of cells N forming the packet and informs the number to a discrimination device 6 when the device 2 discriminates the cell to be a head cell. The discrimination device 6 compares a sum of a count C of a counter 5 and the number N of informed cells from the device 2 with a threshold level T of a buffer 3 and discriminates whether or not a relation of C+N<=T is established. When the relation of C+N<=T is established, the device 6 stores an identifier of a receptible to allow the device 2 to transfer the head cell to the buffer 3. In this case, the counter 5 increases its count by the number of cells of the received packet. On the other hand, in the case of C+N>T, the device 6 discriminates reject of reception and aborts the cells. In this case, the number of counts are unchanged.
|
