PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the trace amount of NOx and aldehydes as well as unburnt hydrogen carbonate and carbon monoxide simultaneously by passing the waste gas of combustion through a specified catalyst. SOLUTION: Catalyst is constituted of alumina, which carries silver. An impregnating method or wet kneading method is applied preferably for the manufacturing method of the same. The catalyst is provided with a proper shape such as the state of powder, pellet and the like. In this case, the catalyst is preferable to be used by granulating, pressure forming or extruding forming so as to have a grain size within the range of predetermined value in order to prevent the dissipation of the same from a catalyst layer Z, filled with the catalyst, when the state of catalyst is powder. When the waste gas of combustion, which is generated by a gas engine 1, is passed from the catalyst layer Z into a conduit 4 through a conduit 2, the catalyst is heated by high- temperature waste gas of combustion and develops the catalyst effect of the same sufficiently whereby NOx, aldehydes, HC and CO are changed effectively and are removed as harmless matter. |
